Lifeguard Certification Courses

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Includes: 

  • CPR - for the professional rescuer.

  • ​Lifeguard Certification

  • AED Certification

  • Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer

  • Each potential Lifeguard must pass a prerequisite swim test. For more information please contact Brobinson@abingdon-va.gov

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Classes 

  • Minimum Age limit 15 years’ old

  • Cost $225.00 including Lifeguard Training, CPR for Pro Rescuer, Automated External Defibrillation, First Aid, Preventing Disease Transmission all books and materials. Appropriate swim attire and towel required at each class meeting.

  • Prerequisite Test: *schedule an appointment by contacting Brent Robinson at brobinson@abingdon-va.gov.

  • 300 Yards Continuous Swim (12 lengths of indoor pool)

  • Brick Retrieval (Swim to deep end retrieve 10-pound brick, swim back, and exit pool with brick in less than 1min 40sec)

  • 2 min tread.

Upcoming Lifeguard Certification Classes- 2025
 

Lifeguard Training – March 13 - March 14 – Blended Learning                 

Prerequisite test must be completed by Thursday March 20 by 5:00 PM.

Online portion of the class must be completed prior to the first day of class, 8:00 AM March 6. Link for online portion will be sent to the email that is provided at time of prerequisite test. 

Thursday March 13 - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM – In Class

Sunday March 14 - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM – In Class

 

Lifeguard Training – March 29 - March 30 – Blended Learning                 

Prerequisite test must be completed by Thursday March 20 by 5:00 PM.

Online portion of the class must be completed prior to the first day of class, 8:00 AM March 29. Link for online portion will be sent to the email that is provided at time of prerequisite test. 

Saturday March 29 - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM – In Class

Sunday March 30 - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM – In Class
